About Me
When my daughter was 4, she was sick for 10 months. First, a croupy cough, then add ear infections on top of that for 3 consecutive months. One antibiotic after another, and she got worse. Referred by a friend, this led me to holistic medicine. The first doctor stopped my daughter’s cough in THREE DAYS. By taking out dairy. The second doctor stopped my daughter’s ear infections after just two doses of a homeopathic remedy called Belladonna. The goal from there was to rebuild her immune system — which I learned meant her digestive system. Her first step was to eliminate wheat, sugar, and dairy, and add Vitamin C, probiotics, and acidophilus.
I went on her diet with her because there was no world in which I’d be eating those things in front of her that she couldn’t have.
And then something unexpected happened: I healed. I had thought that my environmental allergies, annual winter sore throats, and constant sinus issues were just me. That this was a “normal” part of life. It wasn’t me. My ailments disappeared. The power was always in my hands to feel amazing.
Thus began my journey into food as medicine, which involved a French-trained macrobiotic chef, an Ayurvedic chef, a psychotherapist studied in homeopathy and yogic philosophy through Swami Rama, and two Ayurvedic MDs. Plus all of my great spiritual teachers who helped me remap my brain with game changing habits and mindset shifts. No sick visits for over 10 years. Kids who grew up with a strong sense of self that could focus where it mattered and didn’t compromise their values thanks to clarity and inner strength. And me: I’m excellent.
